Bighorn Sheep Canyon

A scenic section of the Arkansas River known for Class II-III rapids and frequent sightings of the bighorn sheep that give the canyon its name.

Bighorn Sheep Canyon is a popular rafting destination offering exciting rapids suitable for beginners and families. The canyon gets its name from the Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep often seen on the steep canyon walls. Beyond rafting, the area offers excellent hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing opportunities. The scenic drive through the canyon on US-50 is beautiful in its own right, with several pullouts for photos and wildlife spotting.
